Positive Self-Talk

POSITIVE SELF TALK can make or break a healthy lifestyle and/or can smooth out the otherwise rutted and bumpy road that is carved out by negative thoughts, emotions, and self-appraisals.  For many of us, the things we tell ourselves (the voices inside our head, if you will) have a huge impact on whether or not we will realize our health and fitness goals.  Most of us have probably noticed that when we feel good about ourselves our fitness routines and choices hum right along.  When we are hurting/r feeling bad about ourselves, it can seem nearly impossible to exercise, make healthy food choices, or even take care of ourselves.

THE ABSENCE OF A NEGATIVE DOESN'T ALWAYS EQUAL A POSITIVE.  Most times we need to REPLACE the negative thoughts with a positive.  Here's a "fill in the blank" exercise to help equip each of us with our own set of positives.  PS-- If, in attempting to complete each statement below, you cannot answer an item, don't sweat it!... simply complete what you can.  Whew!  : )

Keep your list of positives handy... or use one a day, kind of like a multi-vitamin.  : )  The next time you're experiencing negative self-talk and need a boost, read your worksheet answers and be reminded of how wonderful you really are!  <3
