"I simply don’t fall into a single “diet camp”. And that confuses the hell out of people, since the human brain likes easy categorization."
“But … but … I need to fit you into one of these nice little nutrition boxes.”
I get asked that question frequently ... along with "How do I get rid of THIS ?" (points to part of anatomy that is the bane of their existence, but that's a whole 'nuther blog post).
According the Dr. John Berardi, a highly respected exercise nutrition coach, the best diet depends on YOU! Are you a vegetarian, or do you need to have meat to feel complete? Do you do best with small meals throughout the day or three larger ones? What about fasting? Do you have the budget to "go organic", or do you need to watch your pennies? Get bored eating the same food every day (remember the Grapefruit Diet? I do!)? Couldn't care less about a menu that would put a smorgasbord to shame and just need to keep it simple? Whatever your needs or philosophies, the best diet is the one that suits YOU (okay, so you may have to tone it down a little if your needs include Twinkies -- which are coming back, by the way! -- for breakfast, lunch and dinner ... just sayin'). Since Dr. Berardi says it best, I'm going to let him be the keynote speaker today. Rest assured that this will take but a few minutes to read and yet will give you the deep peace of mind that comes with knowing that you do NOT have to call in the Food Nazis to clean out your cupboards, fridge and freezer so that you can start the "perfect diet that will let you lose 50 pounds by next week".
Paleo, vegan, intermittent fasting … what’s the best diet?
