Even just coming up with and typing that last sentence wore me out!
Time for a nap.
Hey, I lifted heavy yesterday. I have an excuse! Haha!
Anyway, here I am at Day 4, and, as the motto goes, I am going to BE ALL HERE.
You all don't mind if I redefine "here", do you? It IS my blog after all. I've been thinking that I'd rather blog on the more general Fitness Over 50, and keep "lifting heavy as a woman over 50" as a subset of that. So, HERE is now being defined as "where I'm at as a 50-something woman trekking through the realm of fitness at this age and stage of life... AND I love to lift heavy." Maybe that extra latitude in definition will make it easier to blog daily. : )
My first strategy in this quest was to post an inquiry about blogs/pages/websites to some of the ladies who are members of a Facebook Group for the Drop 2 Sizes program. (Heavy lifting encouraged courtesy of the author, Rachel Cosgrove.) I got several responses, one of which led me to LIFTING MY SPIRITS, a blog authored by a woman who, in her own words, "went from fat chick to bodybuilder by age 50". And, apparently, she's not about to quit now! This inspiring woman started out at 198 lbs. and 44% body fat and progressed to 125 lbs. and less than 22% body fat in 3 years. She did it, in part, by lifting heavy things. She reveals, "Lifting fixes me. I love how empowered I feel when I move weight. I love the feel of the iron."
She's got my attention!
